In a Scottish wedding there are several options for using a solo
bagpiper, at the Church, or the marriage ceremony, piping the bride in
at the beginning of the ceremony and bride and groom out at the
completion of the service. Also playing as the bridal party leaves the
ceremony is customary. If using bagpipes as part of a wedding ceremony
it is important to remember that it is physically difficult to play the
bagpipe for a sustained length of time. A traditonal group, fiddler,
string quartet, clarsach and piano etc can all be used as background
music as and when required during the proceedings but the bagpipes are
loud and definitely not background music. |
